A former Nike and Beats by Dre executive is launching a new media company, Homecoming, focusing on video podcasts that aim to be at the center of sports, business and culture.
Paul Rivera, a longtime friend and collaborator of LeBron James, plans to offer flagship shows, original content, live events and merchandise with the new venture. The operation is backed by high-powered sports agent Rich Paul, founder and chief executive officer of Klutch Sports Group and Klutch Athletics.
Additional investors include the Matthew Pritzker Company, the Forbes Family Sports and Entertainment LLC and Heights LLC. Executives declined to share financial terms.
Sports content has proliferated in recent years across platforms such as podcasts, radio, streaming, social media and television. LeBron created and co-hosts the Emmy Award-winning show The Shop.
For Homecoming, Rivera plans to have the platform sign partnership deals with young content creators. Rich Statter, an executive at United Talent Agency who ran Clamor, a podcast studio focused on developing, financing, and producing original content, will oversee strategy and growth.
“The seat I sit in today, I can invest in things and give advice when necessary,” Paul said of his investment. “That’s a good seat to sit in.”
